Florida Man Accused of Brutal Attack on Girlfriend with Wooden Bat

A Florida man is behind bars after allegedly attacking his longtime girlfriend with a wooden bat during a heated domestic dispute.

According to WPLG Local 10, 51-year-old Jamie Michael Lane and his girlfriend had been in a relationship for seven years and living together for the past four. On September 18th, an argument between the couple escalated after the victim stopped answering Lane’s calls.

Police say Lane returned to their home, but when his girlfriend refused to let him inside, he forced his way in by knocking down the door. Once inside, Lane allegedly struck the woman multiple times with a wooden bat, hitting her on the back of the head, left arm, and forehead.

The victim screamed, “Stop before you kill me,” according to the police report. At that moment, Lane reportedly dropped to his knees, began praying, and begged for forgiveness before fleeing the scene.

The woman managed to call 911 and was rushed to a local hospital. She sustained a left frontal hematoma, possible skull or facial fractures, and a blood clot that doctors say may require surgery. Investigators later recovered the broken bat believed to have been used in the attack.

Lane now faces multiple charges in connection with the violent assault.
